What it lacks is knowing.
Search gives you information. LLMs give you synthesis. Neither gives you knowing — the lived, contextual, hard-won sense that your situation is named, that others have been here, that a way through exists. Knowing is social, slow, and cumulative. It is what a platform can build — and what a chatbot, alone, cannot.
KNOWlings is a platform where the act of shedding an unknown — naming it, sitting with it, contributing to its aggregate — is the product. Knowns grow. Unknowns shred. The meter rises. Together.
Never complete.
A Knowling's relationship to a subject moves through five phases. The Know Meter is never finished — Knowing is not a terminal state but an ongoing one. The meter is shared: each tap, label and Knowing shifts the aggregate for everyone else in the vertical.
Step zero counts.
Every KNOWlings interaction walks the same eight-step loop. The radical move is Step 0: the search itself is a contribution. Before a user has created an account, written a word, or made a choice, their arrival has already shifted the aggregate. You are not alone is the first feature, not the last.
Most platforms assume posting. KNOWlings assumes tapping. Four escalating levels of contribution each take more from the user and give back more reputation. The contribution spectrum runs parallel to the Know Meter — you can walk the meter at any contribution level.
never a teacher.
The platform is a three-participant conversation: the Knowling, their community, and Claude. AI appears at moments of reframe — never at moments of naming. The human names the experience; AI offers a pattern; the human chooses whether to try the reframe or stay with their word.
Many verticals.
The platform primitive is the loop. A vertical is a domain of unknowns the loop is tuned to — Markets, Burnout, Leadership, Wine. Each vertical has its own voices, its own aggregate, its own Knowings. Knowlings earn Ace standing inside a vertical by being the person others name-check.
This is the Burnout vertical walked end-to-end in six beats. Watch the Know Meter rise. Watch contribution escalate from one tap to one written Knowing. Watch Claude arrive at the reframe, not the diagnosis. Tap through manually, or press auto-play to let the pacing speak for itself.
to the next Knowling.
Someone will arrive tomorrow with the same unknown you had today. The platform's job is to make sure they find what you named — and that the aggregate tells them they are not the first.
